A new way to help associations find volunteers

user research

JeVeuxAider.gouv.fr is the public volunteering platform, enabling:

  • Everyone to find a volunteer mission that suits them

  • Associations to find motivated volunteers

I worked for this platform as a solo Product Designer, with a Product Manager and 2 developers.

A search engine to help associations find volunteers

Context

On JeVeuxAider.gouv.fr, the main journey is: volunteers can search missions published by associations and apply if they are interested. Another feature, named "reversed search", only for associations was created to allow them to search for volunteers and contact them directly.

What we have done

We sent surveys to associations to get their feedbacks and talk to them about their needs during semi-guided interviews.

The "reversed search" was not very used for several reasons:

  • not a lot of volunteers accept to be visible in this list

  • despite the low volume, the associations didn't know who to contact because of poor information

  • a lot of associations didn't know the feature existed

We decided:

  • to add a few tricks on the platform to encourage volunteers to fill in their profile and accept to be visible in the feature

  • to revamp the volunteers list with pertinent information, filters and sorting

  • to improve the email sent to notify the volunteer that an association would like to get in touch with them

  • to highlight the feature in the associations dashboard and mission edition page
